Porcupine Tree’s new live film is approaching completion and a special edition will be available in April, with a regular version to follow in May. Anesthetize was filmed live over 2 nights in Tilburg, The Netherlands in October 2008, at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. The 130 minute live film includes a complete performance of the Blank Planet album and 11 other tracks, and was directed and edited by Lasse Hoile on high definition cameras, with the soundtrack mixed into stereo and 5.1 sound.

The special edition will take the form of a cloth bound hard back 120 page book (as per The Incident and Insurgentes deluxe versions) featuring live photography of the band taken over the last 5 years. The book will house both a DVD and a much higher quality Blu-Ray disc version of the film, as well as 2 audio CDs of the soundtrack including one bonus track not featured in the film. The boo

Royal Albert Hall concert update

Posted in Porcupine Tree, Tour by David Mytton on December 30, 2009

ROABP would like to apologise for any confusion caused by the announcement of tickets for the Porcupine Tree concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The band’s management were initially informed that the concert would be announced in January and that tickets would go on sale early in 2010 (between mid January- mid February).

For reasons entirely beyond the band’s control, this special concert was publicised much earlier than expected and ticket sales were subsequently scheduled to be sold from the 29th of December onwards.

This meant that ROABP and the band were forced to announce the sale of their allocation of tickets much sooner than intended. In doing so it was discovered that the ‘Arena’ tickets were being sold as ‘Seated’ when the band had asked for them to be ‘Standing’.

It also meant that there was no time to work out VIP packages as originally had been planned. Consequently, the idea of a VIP package was dropped.

While we attempt to clarify the situation, we have removed the remaining tickets from sale, though the Royal Albert Hall and other ticket agencies have continued to sell their share of tickets.

If you joined the Residents of a Blank Planet service over the last few days in anticipation of a VIP package, please contact support@burningshed.com to ask for a refund.

Apologies again for the confusion – we will update you as soon as we have more information.

Please note that contrary to an earlier news item the band have decided not to offer a special VIP package for the Royal Albert Hall show. If you joined the Residents of a Blank Planet service over the last few days in anticipation of this, please contact the PT store to ask for a refund. Apologies for the confusion.

Porcupine Tree Voyage 34 Vinyl Reissue

Posted in Porcupine Tree by David Mytton on December 28, 2009

Voyage 34, is an instrumental composition from 1992/93, split into 4 phases and lasting for over an hour. Combining trance rhythms alongside more typical PT textures and guitar solos, Voyage 34 was a big hit in the ambient/chill out club scene of the early 1990s (when it was originally issued as two 12 inch singles).

This vinyl edition comes on 180gsm heavyweight double coloured vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves. It also features the extended version of Phase 4 which is 6 minutes longer than it’s previous CD version.

This limited edition vinyl is now available to pre-order and shall ship from February 15th 2010, click here to order.

Porcupine Tree 2010 – Albert Hall & Mexico

Posted in Porcupine Tree, Tour by David Mytton on December 28, 2009

Porcupine Tree will play 2 special shows to close the Incident tour cycle, one in the UK and one in the US. The UK show is now confirmed to take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 14th October 2010. These shows will be evening-with concerts with PT playing an extended set – although we can’t tell you exactly what the evening will hold at this moment, the band are planning some very special things that will make these 2 shows unique experiences for everyone.

Tickets for the Royal Albert Hall show will be on sale from 29th December, but please note that the bands are also putting together a special VIP package for Residents of a Blank Planet members – more news on this soon, as well as confirmation of date and location of the US show.

Porcupine Tree is happy to announce its return to Mexico City, on the 14th April 2010, at the José Cuervo Salón. The date for tickets going on sale for this show has been delayed in order to rework the schedule, with a possible change of venue in Mexico City and the addition of some more shows in Mexico. Updated info will be announced shortly.

New Incident merchandise

Posted in Porcupine Tree by David Mytton on September 12, 2009

There is a whole range of new Incident related merchandise available in both the Porcupine Tree UK and US stores. The US store is a brand new addition following requests from fans.

Check out the clothing, accessories and artwork pages on the European store, or the US store.

All of these items, apart from the the denim jacket and coffee mug which remain mail order only, will also be sold at the shows on the forthcoming tour dates – but please note that while you will save on shipping by buying at a show, most venues these days add a concession fee to each item (sometimes as much as 35%) which means it may actually work out cheaper for you to pay the shipping. This is something that is unfortunately beyond the band’s control and can vary from venue to venue.
